The Sangguniang Kabataan Pederasyon – Palo Chapter Council, celebrated the Linggo ng Kabataan on August 19 to August 24, 2019. The Linggo ng Kabataan celebration serves to commemorate the significance and rights of the young Filipino people, as mandated through Section 30 of the Republic Act No. 10742, better known as the “Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015”.
In line with the celebration of the International Youth Day, the Linggo ng Kabataan 2019, with the theme: “Transforming Education”, aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all.
The Sangguninag Kabataan Pederasyon of Palo, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Palo, headed by the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Frances Ann B. Petilla, Department of Health, PNP-Palo, and the Rural Health Office spearheaded a School-to-School Caravan with the activity slogan, “I KNOW RIGHT!”. Symposiums were held regarding Dengue Prevention, Sexually Transmitted Infections, HIV and AIDS, Depression and Suicide, Teenage Pregnancy, and the Anti-Hazing Law.
The said symposiums were conducted in several schools in the municipality, namely: Anahaway National High School, San Joaquin National High School, Palo National High School, and Palo National High School – Annex, attended by students from the Grades 11 and 12.
As part of the Pederasyon’s mandate and responsibilities which is to convey legitimate and valid information, dynamic personalities and resource speakers coming from the Rural Health Unit of Palo and the Department of Health were invited and were the ones who gave the lectures at the symposium.
This kind of activity is geared to apprise the youth of their rights and privileges and to instill proper awareness leading to a more safe, harmonious and peaceful community. And making them active members and partners of the municipality.
