Organized in the early years of 2000, the Palo Cross Country Mountain Bike Race has been part of Palo’s annual Fiesta Celebrations. The event is spearhead by a group of bike enthusiasts who are mostly from Palo, Leyte, who, as a group is known as the Leyte Gulf Off-Road Bikers Association (LGORA).

 

Just like any other sports event, the Palo Cross Country Mountain Bike Race started as a pure biking competition, a test of strength and endurance among the racers, yet through the years, the event evolved into a more cultural, environmental and health oriented endeavor, promoting tourism, healthy lifestyle, history, community youth development and environmental protection. Through the unwavering support of the Local Government Unit of Palo and the province of Leyte, this activity have been held successfully each year and participated by bikers from different muncipalities and cities of the region. The Palo Cross Country Mountain Bike Race carries the following specific objectives:

 

  1. To convene the different biking organizations in the region;
  2. To promote Palo as one of the eco-adventure destinations, promoting KAUSWAGAN TRAIL as the ultimate Mountian Biking Hub of the province of Leyte;
  3. To promote Palo as a “Biking Friendly” Municipality;
  4. To create a culture of a Healthy Lifestyle through biking; and,
  5. To promote enviromental protection through biking as a non-motorized mode of transportation;

 

The Palo Cross Country Mountain Bike Race is organized in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Palo through the Office of the Mayor and Vice Mayor
